A singing workshop inspired by our desire for peace in the world. The songs will be easy to learn and taught by ear, so there’s no need to read music or be an experienced singer. The aim is to create harmony and peace in our hearts and send out into the world.
There will be a refreshment break, which, as well as tea, coffee and biscuits, will feature specially-made vegan PEACE SOUP and bread for those who would like it. If attendees would like to bring anything to put on the bread – cheeses, pate, whatever – then that would be very welcome. No alcohol please.
Entry is by donation and the session will be raising funds for The World Peace Flame (https://www.worldpeaceflame.co.uk/, charity number: 1161432) a charity which produces practical peace education packs for use in schools. Founded in 1999, when seven Peace Flames were flown from seven different continents to be united in Wales, it has a fascinating history. The living Peace Flames provide focal points around the world for people to come together and symbolically mark their desire for peace. It is not tied to any political party or religion, but wishes peace for all humanity and it starts with each individual person.
There will be a raffle during the evening to raise extra funds, and participants are welcome to bring along a raffle prize to add to the excitement!
No need to book in advance, just come along with an open heart, a willing voice and a wish for peace around the world. Doors open at 5.15 p.m. and there will be a short, gentle physical and vocal warm-up to begin. Children are welcome, but under 12’s supervised please. There is an area of the former library with books and toys if they don’t want to join in the singing.
The session will be led by experienced local singing teacher, Penny Wilson (member of the Natural Voice Network: https://www.naturalvoice.net/). Contact singingpenny2009@yahoo.co.uk for more information.
