DESCRIPTION:People living with Parkinson’s in Glossop\, High Peak and the surrounding areas are being invited to try a new non-contact boxing and low intensity exercise class.  \nWhen: Weekly on a Friday from 12.45pm\nWhere: 36-40\, High St East\, Glossop\, Derbyshire\, SK13 8PN\nCost: £5 per person \nDelivered by specialist boxing coaches from My Active\, with support from Alliance Leisure\, the sessions take place every Friday to help more local people with Parkinson’s to live well with the condition.  \nThe boxing classes are designed to be inclusive and accessible for all participants\, with no previous experience of boxing or physical activity required.  \nA trained instructor can guide everyone through the range of activities and participants are welcome to come to a session to see how everything works before deciding if they want to take part.  \nNon-contact boxing can be a great way for someone who lives with Parkinson’s to enjoy an active lifestyle with the condition and benefits can include:\nBetter balance and coordination\nReduced risk of freezing and falls\nBetter cardiovascular health\nBetter energy levels and improved sleep patterns\nImproved strength\nReduced anxiety  \nClasses are designed to be fun and friendly\, with carers and relatives welcome to attend or join in. SUMMARY:Three enigmatic artists: Rennie Mackintosh\, Chagall and Picasso
DESCRIPTION:In these 3 sessions art historian\, Frank Vigon\, will deliver lectures on three enigmatic and prolific artists of the late 19th Century and early-mid 20th Century.\n​In Sesson 1 Frank will visit the work of Charles Rennie MacKintosh (1868-1928)\, the Scottish architect\, designer\, water colourist and artist who led the Glasgow style by fusing Art Nouveau\, Arts and Crafts\, and Celtic Revival into Modernism.  There will be a focus on his unique style: the contrast between short tight angles and floral inspired motifs with subtle curves such as  the Mackintosh rose motif.\n​Session 2 will look at the long life and varied career of Marc Chagall (1887-1985).  Chagall was born in Vitebsk (today’s Belarus) into Jewish ancestry\, at a time of great upheaval in Russia. These Jewish roots never left Chagall and were reflected in his individualistic style. He is known for his poetic figurative style which blends Eastern European movements with Cubism\, Fauvism and Surrealism. He is famous for his use of colours and believed that ‘colours are a living\, integral part of the picture\, never passively flat or banal like an afterthought.’\n​Our final session will study Pablo Picasso (1881-1973)\, the Spanish painter and sculptor who spent most of his life in France. He is one of the most influential and well-known artists of the 20th century with his career spanning over 75 years. During that time Picasso’s work was divided into various periods such as Analytic Cubism (1909-1912) and Synthetic Cubism (1912-1919). Frank needs a whole course on Picasso to discuss this enigmatic man but\, hopefully\, in one session he will attempt to give us a flavour of why he is so influential to 20th century art.\n3 sessions\, Tuesdays 24/11\, 1/12\, 8/12 2026\, 2-4 pm.

Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together\, set aside distractions\, and achieve their writing goals. \nOur events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions\, a period of focused writing\, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive\, our host will lead introductions\, and then everyone will write for a quiet\, focused period of time. Afterward\, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.
