SUMMARY:A Feast of Folk with Ian F Ball & Friends
DESCRIPTION:Come and join multi-instrumentalist Ian F Ball and a friend or two in the Partington Theatre Club Room\, for an evening of folk music from the British Isles\, spanning three centuries. With music and songs to take you on a journey from the 18th century asylums of London and Oldham Parish Church\, through Derbyshire and Cornwall\, the rolling corn fields of rural England to the present day\, there will be something for everyone. \nThere will also be a performance of ‘The Great Derbyshire Lead Rush’. Based upon the BBC TV series from the 1970s\, ‘Ballad of the Northwest’\, with songs and anecdotes it tells the story of the rise and fall of the Derbyshire Lead mining industry. \nIan is an accomplished guitarist\, melodeon player\, singer and actor\, based in Oldham near Manchester in the UK. His music is played far and wide and has been recorded by bands and musicians on both sides of the Atlantic. \nPartington regulars will remember Ian from last year\, when he played Frank in ‘Educating Rita’ and this year’s production of ‘Wind in the Willows’ where he played Badger and supplied the music. \n“Excellent story telling” Ken Nicol – Steeleye Span.” \n“Ian is a heart-warming\, authentic artist with a talent to reach and connect with an audience. SUMMARY:Cold Flame perform the music of Jethro Tull
DESCRIPTION:Whilst showcasing both classic electric and acoustic Jethro Tull music\, the band also attempt to capture some of the theatre that also made Jethro Tull such a unique live force within the music business. In considering the vast Tull music repertoire\, Cold Flame specialise in highlighting songs from many of the early Tull albums between 1968 and 1980 including ‘Stand Up’\, ‘Aqualung’ ‘Thick as a Brick’ and ‘Songs from the Wood’ alongside various lesser known gems from across the decades in a two hour plus show that highlights musical diversity\, humour and uniqueness – traits that conjure up the very essence and appeal of Jethro Tull live. The band continue to vary setlists year on year ensuring that shows remain fresh and continue to include song and stage craft surprises complementing the extensive Jethro Tull back catalogue. This attention to detail comes from a determination to put on a show that will appeal to all fans of Jethro Tull as much as possible both from a musical and visual level.
